Mary Bemis is the founder of Reprise Activewear, a sustainable and plant-based athleisure brand. Mary began her career in finance and slowly transitioned over to fashion, starting with reading the labels of her clothing, attending trade shows to eventually taking courses at FIT and launching her own company. After learning about the amount of synthetics in traditional activewear, she decided to create a product that she couldn’t find on the market - one that was meant for comfort and performance, but was a more natural solution for the consumer and better for the planet overall. She uses Tencel, which is a tree based fiber that is naturally cooling, resistant to bacteria and biodegradable. Why is this important? Because every single fabric sheds micro fibers so when washing synthetic  materials, those plastics and chemicals end up in our water and food supply. By making activewear with Tencel, Mary is creating a solution to the problem - instead of just treating the symptom. Alongside Reprise, Mary shares some tips on being more sustainable in your everyday life and how we can be better consumers moving forward.
